Switching to an area that allowed his creativity and technical ability to flourish, Mário made a move from engineering and graduated in product design. His career naturally evolved, however, through his passion: photography. It is here that his skills and ideas are best expressed, especially in fashion photography where he is attracted to the combination of the aesthetic and technique and to being able to move in areas such as portrait, architecture etc.

Over the last few years he has been one of the leading fashion photographers in Portugal. Awarded by Fashion Awards as the best fashion photographer in 2011, Mário Príncipe has, since 2002, contributing with major fashion publications including Vogue, Elle, Glamour, GQ, Máxima among others as well as shooting Adcampaigns for the most prestigious brands in the country.

Heavily influenced by Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin among many others, Mário is always trying to feed and improve his visual culture.

Is also the Photo Editor in Chief of imgmQUARTERLY magazine.

Started to teach fashion photography in 2008. Some of the new wave of established and talented photographers, in Portugal, were among his students.
